Cornell University
Founded 1865. Ivy League land-grant university with famed agriculture and hotel programs.
Overview
Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White founded a university where any person could find instruction in any study, combining Ivy traditions with public land-grant duties. Cornell operates state-supported colleges of agriculture and veterinary medicine alongside private arts and sciences, a hybrid no other Ivy matches. Its Ithaca campus overlooks Cayuga Lake gorges, and branches run to Cornell Tech in New York City and a medical campus in Qatar. Carl Sagan taught astronomy here, and Bill Nye was an engineering student. The dairy bar and dragon day rites are campus legends.
