Swarthmore College
Founded 1864. Quaker-founded honors college with rare ABET-accredited engineering inside liberal arts.
Overview
Founded by Quakers on Hicksite principles and unusual for offering engineering within a liberal arts college, Swarthmore pairs ABET-accredited engineering with seminar-style honors. The honors program features external examiners from Oxford traditions. Its Lang Center sends students into social action projects worldwide. About 1,650 students share the Crum woods campus outside Philadelphia, and alumni include Nobel laureates in the sciences.
