Wharton School
Founded 1881. The world's first collegiate business school, at the University of Pennsylvania.
Overview
Industrialist Joseph Wharton endowed the school at the University of Pennsylvania in 1881, creating the first collegiate business school in the world. Its finance faculty helped shape modern corporate finance, and its MBA class is among the largest of the elite programs. Alumni include Warren Buffett, who studied there before transferring, Elon Musk, who earned an economics degree, and Sundar Pichai, who took his MBA there. Jon M. Huntsman Hall in Philadelphia anchors the school, which also runs a San Francisco campus for executive MBA students.
